Dan MCQUEENEY

Dan comes from a long line of ranchers and is a fifth generation here in the Napa Valley. His family has had many types of livestock including sheep and hogs, but, until recently, their primary livestock had always been cattle. Due to the ongoing drought and needing more time to devote to family, Dan and Liz switched to goats. The goat herd started with 10 pregnant does and one guardian dog. 10 years later, and we’re still going strong.

Liz McQueeney

Liz’s love of ranching is rooted in her love of animals. Over the past 10+ years, she has provided ongoing care and feeding for the goats at every stage of their lives. Kidding season is an especially fun and challenging time — their largest season to date was 92 baby goats! Of course, some babies require extra care, and these are the ones that inevitably become family pets and local favorites. These special goats come when called, enjoy being petted, and even attend special events such as the local firehouse’s ‘Firewise Day.’ The gentle, sweet nature of goats motivates Liz and Dan to provide the very best for their herd.

IRISH & Bailey

Irish was our original Livestock Guardian Dog. She is a 127 lb. Anatolian Shepherd and stays up all night to guard the herd. Bailey came to us as a BIG pup. He is a Great Pyrenees and about 110 lbs. He is the first one into the trailer when we are heading off to a grazing job. When we arrive, he investigates the entire area to know where his patrolling will be needed. Both of these dogs are bonded with the herd.

Sadie & Ruby

Sadie is our veteran Border Collie McNab. She is terrific at moving the goats. Ruby is our new trainee and is a 6 month old McNab with springs in her feet. She is learning well.
